Book Club Invitation

Hello readers,

Thanks for dropping by. I started a book club with my friends Candice and Elizabeth a while ago and we just began reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. I'd like to invite you to join us if you are interested in this book. Elizabeth and I both have blogs, and we are writing reflections on the book every so often. If you like you can read along with us and comment, or post on your reflections if you have a blog or page of some sort. Our goal is to read the book in four weeks. Send me a comment if you'd like to join us.

Happy Weekend!

-Loren

This sounds like fun. I would like to join in. I have to get the book first, though. Maybe I can get to it on Tuesday? I've heard that this is a great book, and I have absolutely no idea what it's about.

Hi Sandra,
Sounds good. You're going to like the book. It's a coming of age story about a girl growing up in a poor section of Brooklyn, NY at the beginning of the 1900's. Betty Smith's writing is amazing. Welcome to our club!

Thanks! I'm looking forward to it. I will be well on my way into it by the end of next week, then I'll check out your and Elizabeth's posts about it.

Here is a link where one may find a synopsis as well as a study guide. They have lots of other books there as well and if the copyright is up they even have the full text for books such as Les Miserables. In my blog type in the book title in the search box, or click on the key word A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I already have alot written about it and will probably break it up into several posts next week.

Dear Internet Traveler,

Welcome to my writer's blog, started about six years ago for fun. Over time, the writing I have posted has ranged from personal reflection, to Long Island history research, to tall tales for my own amusement, to feature articles for local newspapers. As you can see from topics listed here, I travel in many mental directions in regard to interests. Click on the tabs and labels to explore my strange mind which senses that you may be having a criss-cross day. If so, perhaps this blog will distract you. However, please note that if you tell me my blog is beautiful just to get me to advertise rhinoplasty surgery and cheap drugs from Canada in your comment, I will ask the gods to give you a tail that cannot be concealed.

Fondly,

Loren Christie
