Small Successes

FaithButton

On the blog Faith and Family Live Moms are listing three small successes on Thursdays. The
idea is that small achievements lead to big successes for moms. Click on the button above to participate.

Here are my small successes related to motherhood this week:

1. I walked two miles a day this week with the kids.

2. I was ready to ship Hell Hound to a Burlington Coat Factory in China for dumping over the kitchen garbage pail and stealing the princess' breakfast off her plate, but I forgave her.

3. Okay, this one is not related to motherhood, but it is still BIG for me. Hold on to your computer chair, are you ready?

In an attempt to fast I GAVE UP CHOCOLATE FOR A DAY!

This is not a success for me: I yelled at my husband for eating my "emergency reserve" of chocolate. So I gave it up for a day but not of my own volition.

chocolate has caffenine in it...caffenine in mormon mythology is against our gospel...so you would all be wise to give it up...tease if you will but i speak the truth

Hi Mr. Putz,
I have never and would never tease you about being a Mormon. However, I am not a Mormon and I'm curious to know why caffeine is against Mormon doctrine. American writer Henry David Thoreau thought coffee was distracting and he was very opposed to the practice of drinking it. My honest opinion on fasting is that I think I can do it as long as I do not set unrealistic aspirations for myself. Fasting makes me mindful of Christ and more prayerful, because I crave the thing I gave up! I think any food in excess is bad for our bodies. I really love chocolate as many women do!

Disregarding the chocolate/religion discussion, I think the Small Successes idea is a great one. Thanks for sharing, Loren. I look forward to reading your successes (with or without chocolate) and hopefully posting my own come Thursday! Pop over and take a look, but I guarantee you'll not see anything about giving up coffee. That's just too dangerous for me. :)

I could give up chocolate, too!!
Oh wait, I hate chocolate.

I better try something else:)

Dear Internet Traveler,

Welcome to my writer's blog, started about six years ago for fun. Over time, the writing I have posted has ranged from personal reflection, to Long Island history research, to tall tales for my own amusement, to feature articles for local newspapers. As you can see from topics listed here, I travel in many mental directions in regard to interests. Click on the tabs and labels to explore my strange mind which senses that you may be having a criss-cross day. If so, perhaps this blog will distract you. However, please note that if you tell me my blog is beautiful just to get me to advertise rhinoplasty surgery and cheap drugs from Canada in your comment, I will ask the gods to give you a tail that cannot be concealed.

Fondly,

Loren Christie
