My small successes this week (from a parenting perspective) are:
1. I hired a mommy's helper for the summer, so I can move about the house freely once in a while, (such a huge relief when my husband works long hours).
2. Today I escaped to the basement and cleaned it out while my teenage helper was upstairs with the kids.
3. I spent an hour at a nursing home today with my oldest son, helping the elderly play Bingo. In the car ride home, we talked about what was fun and interesting about helping "the wise grandmas and papas in the retirement home."

Loren,
Thanks for visiting my site! I really enjoy yours as well. You have such wonderful ideas and have great values that you can see in your family life as well. My life has been deeply touched by cancer so I am glad to see that you support it so much.
Thank you for sharing! Have at Blogher!

Aw, I think that's wonderful! I hope that you are able to get a lot more done this summer.
I think it's awesome that you took your oldest son to a nursing home. That is such an amazing thing to do and I'm sure the values he got from it are just fantastic!

Help Make Sure Gardasil is Safe
The National Vaccine Information Center (http://www.nvic.org/) is petitioning President Barack Obama and Congress on behalf of families to investigate Gardasil vaccine deaths and serious injuries. Click here to read the petition. Please consider signing. Questioning the safety of Gardasil is our duty as parents, informed consumers and Americans. This petition is important to me.
