Enchanted Hoophouse

Do things happen randomly? My gut says no.
Since my dad's green house went up on my property, I've been getting gifts weekly of wildlife sightings. First it was Tiger Swallowtail butterflies, then purple dragonflies, a nest outside the back door of baby birds, and a visit from a curious woodpecker. Today, however, was the best.

Few people know that when I was a child I was fascinated by the praying mantis. My dad knew this and today while I was watering the plants I saw a praying mantis on the memorial stone I made for him. Originally, I tried to put this garden stone at my dad's grave, but there were rules against leaving objects there. So, I put the stone in the corner of the green house. Can you imagine how surprised and happy I was to see a praying mantis on that stone?

I haven't seen a praying mantis in years. It's easy to rationalize these signs away, but I have faith.

Someone has called things like this "God-winks" -- God letting us know that He is there and knows just what we need.

Dear Internet Traveler,

Welcome to my writer's blog, started about six years ago for fun. Over time, the writing I have posted has ranged from personal reflection, to Long Island history research, to tall tales for my own amusement, to feature articles for local newspapers. As you can see from topics listed here, I travel in many mental directions in regard to interests. Click on the tabs and labels to explore my strange mind which senses that you may be having a criss-cross day. If so, perhaps this blog will distract you. However, please note that if you tell me my blog is beautiful just to get me to advertise rhinoplasty surgery and cheap drugs from Canada in your comment, I will ask the gods to give you a tail that cannot be concealed.
