Diary of a Docent (House Museum Tour Guide)

Ketcham Inn Grand Opening in Newsday

My costume was custom made by Kathleen Johnson from Center Moriches, NY. She used a victorian pattern to create this three-layered, embroidered silk dress with lace trim.

The back of my amazing costume.
James Madison and Thomas Jefferson stayed at Ketcham Inn in  1791 on their way to William Floyd's home.

Diane from the Longwood Estate made 18th century snacks in the working winter kitchen. She was great!
A group of Revolutionary War re-enactors from East Hampton were present at the Grand Opening.

Beautiful cake from Nettie's Bakery in Center Moriches, NY.

How wonderful! I'm sure it was exciting and rewarding to be a part of such an event. I love the costumes, and I love the cake!

Dear Internet Traveler,

Welcome to my writer's blog, started about six years ago for fun. Over time, the writing I have posted has ranged from personal reflection, to Long Island history research, to tall tales for my own amusement, to feature articles for local newspapers. As you can see from topics listed here, I travel in many mental directions in regard to interests. Click on the tabs and labels to explore my strange mind which senses that you may be having a criss-cross day. If so, perhaps this blog will distract you. However, please note that if you tell me my blog is beautiful just to get me to advertise rhinoplasty surgery and cheap drugs from Canada in your comment, I will ask the gods to give you a tail that cannot be concealed.

Fondly,

Loren Christie
