On a Serious Note

I strongly believe in the power of prayer and fasting, especially when people join together with a single intention. Until the Presidential Election, a group of my Catholic friends and I have decided to say the Divine Mercy Chaplet daily at 3 p.m. at home, or where ever we find ourselves. In addition, we are fasting on Wednesdays and Fridays, (two small meals, one regular meal, no snacks between meals). We're doing this to ask God's help in spreading an attitude change in regard to the sanctity of human life. Abortion is not just an ISSUE, it is a moral injustice that needs immediate attention.

Like many religions, the Catholic faith is rooted in sacrifice. Although the idea of sacrifice has a negative connotation in society, it is a necessary component for growth in life. Sacrifice is actually an act of love that yields grace. You can read more about our fast at Elizabeth Kathryn Gerold-Miller's blog. Readers of ALL faiths, I truly hope you decide to join us in any way you are able. Send me a comment if you can join our effort. Thanks! -Loren

Dear Internet Traveler,

Welcome to my writer's blog, started about six years ago for fun. Over time, the writing I have posted has ranged from personal reflection, to Long Island history research, to tall tales for my own amusement, to feature articles for local newspapers. As you can see from topics listed here, I travel in many mental directions in regard to interests. Click on the tabs and labels to explore my strange mind which senses that you may be having a criss-cross day. If so, perhaps this blog will distract you. However, please note that if you tell me my blog is beautiful just to get me to advertise rhinoplasty surgery and cheap drugs from Canada in your comment, I will ask the gods to give you a tail that cannot be concealed.

Fondly,

Loren Christie
